Pin — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
Effective: October 7, 2026
This policy covers "Pin" (the "App").
In plain words: a purely local screenshot annotation and pin-to-desktop tool — capturing,
annotating, redacting and pinning all happen on your Mac, and your screenshots never leave it.
1. What we collect
Nothing.
- We do not upload your screenshots, images, or file paths.
- We do not upload your annotations, pinned images, or settings.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising SDK.
-
All settings stay on your own Mac, inside the app sandbox:
~/Library/Containers/com.mac.gcdev.g32/
2. How the App handles your data
Capture and annotation
- Capturing reads only the screen area you explicitly select.
- Annotation, cropping and export all run on your Mac; results go to the file you choose.
- Neither captures nor annotations are uploaded, and nothing is written to a log.
Smart redaction
- Face and text detection uses Apple's built-in Vision framework, running offline on your Mac.
- No network access, no cloud AI service, and no image upload.
- Redacted images stay on your Mac.
The clipboard
- "Pin image" reads an image you explicitly copied, in order to pin it on your desktop.
- What is read is never uploaded and never written to a log.
3. The only things that go online
-
App Store in-app purchase (unlocks the full feature set).
Payment, receipts and refunds are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details and
never receive your name or account. -
Purchase verification: after a purchase or restore, the App sends Apple's
transaction identifier and the App's bundle identifier to the developer's server to
confirm the transaction is valid. No receipt file and no device identifier are sent.
The App also submits a randomly generated local identifier with the transaction so the
purchase can be matched up; it contains none of your personal information.
Beyond this the App makes no network requests.
4. Permissions
-
The App requires Screen Recording permission, used solely for capturing; it does not
read the screen otherwise. - The App does not require Accessibility permission and does not use the camera or microphone.
- It only accesses files you explicitly grant through the system picker.
- Uninstalling the App removes its sandboxed settings.
5. Third parties
The App includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection SDK. Any network activity involving Apple is itemised under "the only things that go online" above.
6. Your rights
- Delete your settings: just remove ~/Library/Containers/com.mac.gcdev.g32/
- Uninstalling the App also removes its sandboxed data.
- Revoke Screen Recording: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording
